Amy is running for Commissioner with a simple goal in mind: make a difference. This goal was ingrained in her by her parents and grandparents, who have always valued serving others and one’s own family simultaneously. Amy and her husband Brandon love raising their three young daughters (and their 14-year-old rescue dog, Bernie) among the small businesses, cultural events, recreational spaces, and all Collingswood has to offer.
Amy has been an active member of the Collingswood community since 2010. In 2011, using her creative talents, she directed a production of “The Laramie Project” for the Collingswood Community Theater, which included a dialogue session with local civic, faith, and educational leaders about LGBT issues in our community. Currently, she serves as the chair of the Collingswood Advisory Board of Health. As chair, she led a resident survey to listen and understand local health and community priorities, such as public and road safety. She previously served as an appointed member of the Collingswood COVID-19 Recovery Advisory Committee, where she supported community vaccine events.
Professionally, Amy holds a doctorate in public health from Drexel University, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in communication. She works in global health research and is recognized as a top researcher in her field. She has overseen large research projects – including budgets, contracts, and on the ground logistics – in 19 countries across Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia on topics including water and sanitation, women’s health, and children’s education. She is also an award-winning author who has published journal articles and a book on health communication. She previously served as a university professor and as a researcher with both the federal government and the Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers.
As a candidate for commissioner, Amy wants to listen to community members, implement fresh ideas, and work together on common sense solutions to improve Collingswood for all. She truly believes that people can make meaningful impact at the community-level, caring for our neighbors and the space we inhabit together every single day. Amy is excited to focus her time and energy to serve Collingswood in its next chapter.
Daniela is a proud first-generation, bilingual American born to Colombian parents. Daniela and her family – her husband Jared and two small children Isa and Luka – have lived in Collingswood since 2017. Until Daniela moved to Collingswood, the concept of being “from” somewhere had always been elusive to her. But the sense of community and support she has felt as a member of this wonderful borough has helped her finally feel at home.
Daniela started her foray into service by taking to social media and organizing the unofficial Collingswood Halloween map in 2020 (marking which houses committed to handing out treats while social distancing) and then coaching her daughter Isa’s first soccer team in 2021. As her ties to the community continued to expand, she knew she wanted to do more and became a member of the Rec Soccer Board in 2023, where she championed sustainable initiatives like reversible jerseys, introduced a spring soccer season, and launched an equipment donation program to make sports more accessible. Beyond soccer, Daniela is deeply involved in Collingswood’s vibrant community. She is an active member of the Mark Newbie and Oaklyn PTAs, as well as St. Teresa’s Catholic Church.
Daniela attended the University of Virginia, where she earned her degree in History and International Relations before embarking on a career that took her across borders and cultures. Daniela has lived and worked abroad, fundraising for Fundación Mujeres por Colombia in Bogotá and later contributing to UN Women in Quito, Ecuador. Daniela graduated from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) with a Masters of Arts in International Economics and International Relations. In the U.S., Daniela has worked as a junior trader and logistics coordinator for Cargill, specializing in agricultural commodities trade with Latin America. Her role demanded an acute understanding of international markets, maritime logistics, and the nuances of cross-cultural business practices.
With a deep appreciation for the support and sense of belonging she’s found in Collingswood, Daniela is committed to strengthening the borough she and her family proudly call home. As Commissioner, Daniela hopes to bring her skills, dedication, and passion for community building to create a brighter future for all residents.
Meghan grew up in South Jersey. She graduated from Moorestown High School and attended Wagner College in Staten Island with a merit scholarship. In 2014, she and her husband Rowland relocated to Collingswood from Philadelphia to be closer to family, and have lived here with their son Jude ever since.
Since making Collingswood home, Meghan’s family has supported the Mark Newbie PTA and been enthusiastic participants in many Collingswood events and initiatives from Porch Fest to Collingswood Pride to Youth Theatre and Rec basketball. As she has volunteered with these events and activities at home – and with organizations outside of Collingswood – Meghan has reaffirmed her belief that we all have more in common than we realize.
With this credo in mind, Meghan committed herself to the work of gun violence prevention. Just days after her son Jude was born, the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook School occurred in Newtown, CT, spurring Meghan to action. She became involved with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, helping to build the New Jersey chapter of the organization. Through this work, she helped organize the vigil in Collingswood following the mass shooting at Pulse Nightclub in 2016 and celebrated the passage of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act at The White House in 2022. She has also volunteered with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, AmeriCorps, and the American Red Cross.
Meghan eventually left her job as an aide to C-Suite executives to commit herself fully to Moms Demand Action, serving as the executive assistant to the organization’s founder. Nearly eight years later she now helps run a program to train gun violence survivors and grassroots volunteers on how to run for office. She excels in extremely high-pressure, fast-moving situations and is a committed listener who believes empathy is one of her greatest strengths. Meghan is also admittedly obsessed with efficiency and managing logistics.
Collingswood truly is where Meghan wants to be. She is ready to get to work on Day 1 to ensure all members of this passionate community not only feel the same way, but that their contributions and ideas matter. She is excited to apply what she’s learned throughout her career in an effort to serve her neighbors.
